The prices below are Tally's official list prices for India. They are the same whoever you buy from, so the useful question is not who is cheapest - it is which edition you actually need, what the yearly renewal will cost, and what else you will spend to get the software working the way your business runs. This page covers all three.
Every edition has the same accounting, inventory and GST capability. What you are paying for as you move up the list is how many people can work at once and how well it holds up when your data and your user count grow.

Not sure whether one user is really enough? The honest test is whether two people ever need the company open at the same moment - one billing at the counter while another posts payments. If yes, that is Gold.
Full Silver vs Gold decision guideTally publishes prices before tax. Software is taxed at 18 percent GST, so this is the figure that lands on your purchase invoice. If you are GST registered, input credit is available in the normal way subject to your eligibility - ask your CA.

A licence is not a one-time number once TSS is in the picture. Below, “own” means the perpetual licence plus TSS renewals from year two onwards; “rent” means the monthly rental for the same period. All figures exclude GST.

Run the arithmetic on the list prices and the two routes land in the same place at roughly the four year mark for both Silver and Gold. Before that, renting costs less. After that, owning does - and you still hold a licence that keeps working even in a year when you decide not to renew TSS.
So the choice is not really about money, it is about commitment. A new venture that is not yet sure it will exist in three years, a site office that closes when the project ends, or a business that simply prefers a predictable monthly outgo should rent. Anyone who expects to be doing the same work in five years should buy.
A perpetual licence does not expire. You own the right to use TallyPrime on the number of machines the edition allows, for as long as you like.
Every new perpetual licence includes the first year of Tally Software Services - product updates, statutory changes, connected e-invoicing and remote access.
Nothing about GST is a paid extra. Returns, e-invoicing and e-way bills are part of the product across all three editions.
We activate the licence on your machine, register it in your business name and hand you the serial number and account credentials that belong to you.
The list price is fixed by Tally. What varies is everything around it.
We ask how many people bill, where they sit and how big the data will get - then recommend, including recommending the cheaper edition when that is the correct answer.
The licence is registered to your business with your own Tally account credentials. You hold the serial number, not us.

TallyPrime Silver is ₹22,500 as a one-time perpetual licence, exclusive of 18 percent GST. It covers one user on one computer and includes the first year of TSS. From the second year, TSS renewal is ₹4,500 / year.
TallyPrime Gold is ₹67,500 as a one-time perpetual licence, exclusive of 18 percent GST. It allows unlimited simultaneous users on the same office LAN and includes the first year of TSS. TSS renewal from year two is ₹13,500 / year.
All list prices are exclusive of GST. Software attracts 18 percent GST, so Silver works out to roughly ₹26,550 and Gold to roughly ₹79,650 on the invoice. If you are GST registered you can claim input credit on it in the normal way, subject to your eligibility.
These are Tally's own official list prices and they are the same wherever you buy. What differs between sellers is what happens after the invoice - activation, setup, training, data migration and someone who answers the phone when a GST return does not tally. That is where a partner earns their place.
Work out how long you will use it. Comparing the two on list prices, the perpetual licence plus its yearly TSS costs the same as the rental at about the four year mark, and is cheaper after that. Rental suits a short project, a seasonal office or a business that wants to keep the cost as a monthly expense; perpetual suits anyone settling in for the long run.
It is not compulsory - TallyPrime keeps running without it. But once TSS lapses you stop receiving product and statutory updates, and connected services such as e-invoicing, e-way bill and remote access stop working. For a GST registered business that is usually not a choice worth making.
Yes, Tally provides an upgrade path from Silver to Gold. The upgrade is priced by Tally and depends on your existing licence, so send us your serial number and we will confirm the exact amount before you decide.
TallyPrime can be downloaded and used in Educational mode without paying, but it carries restrictions - notably on the dates you can record vouchers - that make it unsuitable for real books. It is useful for learning and for testing a setup before you buy.
The licence controls how many people can work at the same time, not how many machines exist. Silver is a single user on one computer. Gold allows unlimited simultaneous users on one office LAN. Server is for larger multi-user and multi-branch environments that need the performance and WAN access.
Usually implementation and data setup, and often a custom invoice format or a report. Migration from another package, cloud hosting and staff training are separate too. We quote these separately and up front so the licence price is not quietly padded.
