Two or more branches
A godown at one end of town and the office at the other. Instead of couriering data or merging two companies at year end, both locations open the same company on the same cloud desktop.
Most businesses keep their books on one computer in one room. The moment the owner is travelling, a branch needs a stock figure or the accountant is at home, everything waits. Cloud hosting puts your TallyPrime and your company data on a server you can reach from any laptop, desktop or tablet - with the same screens, the same shortcuts and the same reports your team already knows.
There is no separate cloud edition of TallyPrime that you have to learn. Cloud hosting simply moves the computer. TallyPrime is installed on a Windows server in a data centre, your company data is copied there, and each of your users connects to that server with a remote desktop client. On screen it is the familiar Gateway of Tally. Alt+G still works. Your voucher types, your invoice formats and your add-ons are all where you left them.
What changes is who can reach the data and when. Instead of one machine in one building, the books live somewhere that three people in three places can open at the same time - subject to the user limit of the TallyPrime edition you own. That single shift is what solves the branch problem, the travelling-owner problem and the accountant-working-from-home problem in one go.
It also quietly fixes a risk most small businesses carry without noticing: years of accounts sitting on one ageing desktop, with a backup taken to a pen drive kept in the same drawer. On a hosted server the backup runs on a schedule and it is not in your building.
Cloud is not automatically better than a local install. It earns its cost in four situations, and if none of these describe you, we will say so.
A godown at one end of town and the office at the other. Instead of couriering data or merging two companies at year end, both locations open the same company on the same cloud desktop.
Check outstanding, approve a purchase order or pull a stock summary from a hotel room or a customer's office, on the same TallyPrime screen your accountant is using.
Part-time accountants and your CA can enter and verify vouchers without visiting your premises and without a copy of your data leaving your control.
If your books live on a single billing machine and everything stops when that machine does, cloud hosting takes that single point of failure out of the picture.
Hosting on its own is only half the job. The half that decides whether your staff actually use it is the configuration around it.
TallyPrime is installed on a cloud server and you connect to it with a remote desktop client. What you see is the ordinary TallyPrime screen - same shortcuts, same reports, same muscle memory for your staff.
Each person gets their own login. You decide who can open which company, and you can add or remove a user when someone joins or leaves.
Data is backed up on a schedule rather than whenever somebody remembers. We set the frequency with you and show your team how to pull a copy down locally too.
Invoices print to the printer sitting next to you, and Excel or PDF exports come down to your own machine. This is the part most people worry about, and it is configured during setup.
Cloud hosting sits on top of TallyPrime's own security levels and user rights, so you keep the voucher-level control you already have inside the software.
We move your existing company data up, connect the users, test printing and stay on call while your team gets used to logging in.
Both are valid. The last row is the one nobody selling cloud likes to print, so we have printed it.
| Local install | Tally on Cloud | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the data sits | On one office PC or LAN server | On a hosted server you log in to |
| Working from outside the office | Not possible without extra setup | Any internet connection, any device with a remote desktop client |
| If the billing PC fails | Work stops until it is repaired or restored | Log in from another machine and carry on |
| Backups | Manual, and usually to the same building | Scheduled on the server, off your premises |
| Adding a user | New machine, new install, licence check | A new login on the same server |
| Running cost | Hardware, power and your own maintenance | A recurring hosting charge per user |
| If the internet is down | Unaffected | You cannot reach the server until it is back |
How many people enter vouchers at the same time, how many companies, how big the data is, which printers matter. That decides the size of the server, not a package name.
A cloud instance is provisioned with Windows and TallyPrime, sized for your user count, with your licence configured against it.
Your existing company data is copied to the cloud server and opened once with you watching, so you can confirm balances match before anyone starts working there.
Logins are created, local printers and download folders are mapped, and the backup schedule is switched on.
Your team starts working on the cloud copy. We stay reachable on call and WhatsApp through the first weeks, which is when the small questions come up.
Before you commit: tell us your user count and roughly how large your company data is. Those two numbers decide the server size and therefore the price - anyone quoting without asking them is guessing.
TallyPrime is installed on a cloud server instead of the computer under your desk, and you connect to that server using a remote desktop client. You see the normal TallyPrime screen with the same shortcuts and reports. It is your own licence and your own company data - only the machine it runs on has moved.
No. Cloud hosting uses your existing TallyPrime Silver, Gold or Server licence. What the edition decides is how many people can work at the same time, so if several users will be on the cloud desktop together you need a multi-user edition. If you are still choosing, our Silver vs Gold guide walks through it.
Yes, once local printer redirection is configured. Your invoice prints on the printer next to you even though TallyPrime is running on a server elsewhere. We test printing with your actual formats during setup, because this is the single most common thing people get stuck on afterwards.
A remote desktop session sends screen images rather than data files, so it works on ordinary broadband and even on a decent mobile connection. Stability matters more than raw speed - a connection that drops repeatedly is more annoying than a slower steady one.
The data stays safe on the server; you simply cannot reach it until the connection is back. Businesses that cannot afford any billing downtime usually keep a secondary connection or a mobile hotspot for the billing counter, and we will say so plainly rather than pretend the risk is not there.
No, they solve different problems. An active TSS subscription lets you view your Tally reports remotely, which is useful for an owner checking numbers. Cloud hosting gives your team a full TallyPrime desktop for day-to-day voucher entry. Many businesses run both.
Yes. Create a login for them, and remove it when the work is finished. It saves the usual routine of copying company data onto a pen drive and then merging changes back afterwards.
Yes. It is your data and your licence. Take a backup from the cloud server, restore it on your own machine and carry on. There is no proprietary format holding you in place.
Custom TDL modules are loaded on the cloud server the same way they are loaded locally. Tell us which add-ons you use and we will configure them during setup so nobody loses a report or an invoice format they rely on.
Hosting is charged on a recurring basis and depends on the number of users, the size of your data and how much storage you need. Tell us your user count and we will quote for the setup and the monthly hosting together, so there are no surprises after go-live.
Tell us how many people use Tally, how many companies you run and where your team sits. We will size the server, quote the setup and the monthly hosting together, and move your data up without disturbing your day.
