Delivery Note - Buyer Name in the Register

When you create a Delivery Note or Delivery Challan in TallyPrime, the Delivery Note Register - the List of All Delivery Note Vouchers - shows a Particulars column. By default that column often shows only the stock item name, so you cannot see which party the delivery note belongs to without opening it.

This add-on changes the Particulars column for Delivery Notes to show the buyer ledger name and the item name together, in the form Buyer Ledger Name - Item Name. For example, Divya Infotech - Apple I1.

From the register list alone you then know who the party is and which item was delivered.

What it does

What the Delivery Note Buyer Name add-on changes

  • Particulars in the Delivery Note Register reads Buyer Name - Item Name
  • No extra fields to fill while entering the voucher
  • Guarded to the Delivery Note voucher type only - Sales, Purchase and other registers are unchanged
  • If the party name is blank only the item is shown, and if the item is blank only the party is shown
Setup guide

Setting it up, once

  1. 1

    Take a backup

Take a backup of your company data before loading any new TDL or add-on.

  2. 2

    Load the TDL file

Open TallyPrime and open your company. Go to Gateway of Tally, then F1: Help, then TDL & Add-On, then F4: Manage Local TDLs. Set Load TDLs on Startup to Yes and specify the full path of delivery-note-party-name.tdl as supplied by Plug & Play Computers. Accept, restart TallyPrime if prompted, and open the company again.

  3. 3

    Open the Delivery Note Register

There is no separate menu to enable. Open the list of Delivery Notes the way you normally do - for example through the Day Book or a voucher register with the voucher type set to Delivery Note, or from Display More Reports as available in your menu. The screen title reads List of All Delivery Note Vouchers.

  4. 4

    Read the Particulars column

In the register, the Particulars column now reads Buyer Ledger Name - Item Name. In the example Divya Infotech - Apple I1, Divya Infotech is the buyer or party ledger and Apple I1 is the stock item on the delivery note.

How to use it every day

  1. 1Create Delivery Notes as usual. No extra fields are required.
  2. 2Open the Delivery Note Register or the Day Book filtered to Delivery Notes.
  3. 3Read the party and the item straight from Particulars, without opening each voucher.
  4. 4Press Enter on a line to open the voucher when you need the full detail.

FAQ

Questions we get about this add-on

Which Tally version is required?

TallyPrime. Load the supplied delivery-note-party-name.tdl file as described in the setup steps.

Do I need to enter extra data in the voucher?

No. Use the party ledger and stock items as usual while making the Delivery Note. The register list picks up both names automatically.

Where do I see the buyer name?

In the Delivery Note Register or Day Book list, under the Particulars column, as Buyer Name - Item Name.

Will the Sales Register also change?

No. The customisation is guarded for the Delivery Note voucher type only.

Particulars still shows only the item name.

Confirm the TDL is loaded under F1: Help, TDL & Add-On, F4, restart TallyPrime, and open a Delivery Note type list rather than another voucher type.

Does this change the printed Delivery Challan?

No. It only improves the on-screen register and list of Delivery Notes.
